Author Guidelines

1.    GENERAL TERMS

The Indonesian Biomedical Journal welcomes articles covering all aspects of biomedical sciences. All submitted manuscripts must not previously published and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Papers may come from any country but must be written in English. Manuscript may be submitted as review articles, research articles, and short communications. There is no submission and processing charges for this journal.

All manuscripts are subjected to peer review. All submissions must be accompanied by abstracts of the authors' manuscripts on related subjects that are in press or under editorial review. Electronic reprints of related published papers by the author/s or manuscripts in press also may be helpful to the reviewers.

All manuscripts must be accompanied by a covering letter signed by all author/s. Upon acceptance, author/s must transfer copyright to the Prodia Education and Research Institute (PERI). Accepted papers become permanent property of PERI and may not be reproduced by any means, in whole or in part, without the written consent from PERI. It is the author/s' responsibility to obtain permission to reproduce illustrations, tables, etc. from other publication.

 

2.    HOW TO SUBMIT

Authors are required to submit manuscripts electronically by using online journal system inabj.org or by sending e-mail to: secretariat@inabj.org. Alternatively authors can submit manuscripts by sending softcopy in a CD to: Secretariat of The Indonesian Biomedical Journal Prodia Tower 9th Floor, JI. Kramat Raya No.150, Jakarta 10430, Indonesia.

 

3.    REQUIREMENTS OF EACH MANUSCRIPT TYPE

  • Review Article: Review Article should consist of no more than 10,000 words, not including the words in abstract, references, table, figure, and figure legend. The manuscript should have no more than six figures and/or tables in total and no more than 250 references.
  • Research Article: Research Article should consist of no more than 3,500 words, not including the words in abstract, references, table, figure, and figure legend. The manuscript should have no more than six figures and/or tables in total and no more than 40 references.
  • Short Communication: Short Communication should be 750 words or less, not including the words in abstract, reference list, table, figure and figure legend. Either one figure or one table may be included. References are limited to no more than 10 references.

 

4. ABSTRACT

Provide an abstract of no more than 300 words (for Review Articles) or 250 words (for Research Articles and Short Communication). Structured-abstract should be followed in writing any type of Articles.


5. REFERENCES

  • References should be according to the Vancouver system.
  • List all authors when there are six or fewer; when there are seven or more, list the first six, followed by "et al.".
  • Sequential number of references in main text. Please follow in detail all examples below:

6. UNIT OF MEASUREMENT

  • Authors can express all measurements in Conventional or International System (SI) units.
  • Drug names must use generic names. When proprietary brands are used in research, include the brand name, the name and location (city & country) of the manufacturer in parentheses after the first mention of the generic name.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  2. Proof of permission was obtained to reproduce illustrations, tables, etc. from other publication.
  3. The submission file is in Microsoft Word file (.doc/x). Formatted as standard A4 page setup.
  4. The text should be double-spaced with 1-inch margin on the left and right sides. Use 12-point Times New Roman font.
  5. Running title provided (not more than 8 words).
  6. Complete information about author/s (first, middle, last name), author/s's affiliation, and email address of corresponding author.
  7. All pages are numbered at bottom right.
  8. Abstract and Keywords.
    • Review article: ≤300 words
    • Research article: ≤250 words
    • Short communications: ≤250 words
  9. Order Manuscript Body (Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusions,References, Acknowledgement, Figures and Tables).
    • Review article: ≤10,000 words
    • Research article: ≤3,500 words
    • Short communications: ≤750 words
  10. For review article, no more than 8 figures and/or tables in total; for research article, no more than 6 figures and/or tables in total; and as for short communication, no more than 1 figure or table. Tables are drawn without vertical lines.
  11. Decimal fraction is written in English version (for thousand use point (,) and decimal use comma (.)).
  12. References must be according to the Vancouver Systems. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
    • Review article: ≤250 references
    • Research article: ≤40 references
    • Short communications: ≤10 references

For the submission of a manuscript to The Indonesian Biomedical Journal, author/s has/have to certify that:

  • The manuscript submitted is an original work and has neither been published in any other peer-reviewed journal nor is under consideration for publication by any other journal. Author/s who publish in any InaBJ print & online journal will transfer copyright to their work to PERI.  Submission of a manuscript to the respective journals implies that all author/s have read and agreed to the content of the Covering Letter or the Terms and Conditions.  It is a condition of publication that manuscripts submitted to this journal have not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted or published elsewhere. Plagiarism is strictly forbidden, and by submitting the manuscript for publication the author/s agree that the publishers have the legal right to take appropriate action against the author/s, if plagiarism or fabricated information is discovered. By submitting a manuscript, the author/s agree that the copyright of their manuscript is transferred to PERI, if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication.  Once submitted to the journal, the author/s will not withdraw their manuscript at any stage prior to publication.  However, the copyright will be released to author/s when the manuscript is rejected.
